What is consignment?

Taking possession - not ownership - of items you want to sell and pricing them, photographing them, housing them and selling them on your behalf. Once an item is sold, you receive a percentage of the selling price, either in a store credit or check/direct deposit.

How does it work?

To make things easy, RealReal offers in-home appointments to collect items for resell but with the current quarantine, Andrew is offering virtual support that doesn’t require interaction with anyone else, but removes the items from your home.

How long does it take?

From first appointment to your first sale, less than 30 days. Items are kept up for sale up to a year.

Are selling prices negotiable?

No. Items are priced to sell and in line with current demand.

What if I want my piece back?

If it hasn’t already sold, you can request it to be shipped back to you.

Top consigning tips

  1. Make sure every item is clean and repaired before your consignment appointment to ensure items are not rejected

  • Use cotton swaps soaked in alcohol to whiten sneaker soles

  • Moisturize and polish any leather goods

  • Repair buckles and polish hardware on shoes and accessories

  • Wipe down the inside soles of shoes with a baby wipe to remove all dirt and toe imprints

  • Spot clean where necessary

  • De-pill wools and knits

  • Check for small holes or tears and repair is possible

2. Complete your closet cleanse/editing prior to your appointment

Andrew is here to help you know what items are re-sellable and make reselling your pieces effortless, but they cannot help with going through your closet to determine what should go. Once you have those piles ready, your appointment will be fast and easy.

Book a Virtual appointment with Nicole if you need support deciding what is worth keeping and worth selling.

3. Trends vary by season and market demands

Top brands include Chopard, Chanel, Cartier and Hermes, but popular items in the luxury world change regularly. You can connect with Andrew to get insight into what is selling fast.

4. Messengers, in-home pick-up and shipments are available

Consigning is very simple because of how easy it is to get items out of your home and up for sale. Even now, with #stayhome our community focus, you can arrange a safe and secure method to eliminate clutter and maintain a sense of productivity during such uncertainty.
